On the heels of a less than stellar opening weekend at the box office for Disney’s Tommorrowland, the entertainment giant has scrapped plans for a third Tron film.
The Hollywood Reporter writes that Disney never official approved another installment of the series, but it appeared things were already in motion with Olivia Wilde and Garrett Hedlund agreeing to return. It also been said that filming would begin in Fall.
Petitions have already popped up pleading for Walt Disney Pictures to reverse its decision. However, it looks as if the studio seems content to stay with what is working right now which is live action remakes of animated classics. Recent examples of this have Cinderella and Alice in Wonderland. Slatted up next will be live action remakes of The Jungle Book, Alice: Through the Looking Glass, and Beauty and the Beast which has already pegged former Harry Potter star Emma Watson as Belle.
