Disney announced a few days ago that the high speed, high thrill test car ride will be set to reopen December 6, 2012 after a hiatus. The ride, closed since mid-April, has undergone reinovations and will be a brand new experience. In the past, riders would hop into a car as it went through a battery of tests in a testing facility. The finale featured a 65 mph cruise outside of the facility.
Guests will now take to the track with a car designed by their own imagination. Riders will begin by entering a design studio to build their car from the chassis up. Then they will ride in their “SimCar” observing how their custom vehicle performs on the track. The ride will be topped off with new visuals, sounds, and more.
The Test Track Present by Chevrolet has been open since 1999 when it was originally sponsored by General Motors. The reopening date of December 6th corresponds with the opening of the new Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom theme park.
